In a surprise plot twist worthy of a daytime soap, 90 universities previously missing from our interactive survivability map have been located and returned to their rightful place in the collegiate cosmos. No ransom was paid, but several spreadsheets were wrestled into submission. Check out the updated map here!

First and foremost — thank you to those of you who reached out with sharp eyes and smarter questions. Whether you emailed to flag missing markers, offered ideas for improvement, or simply asked, “Where is my school?” — your feedback directly helped improve the quality of our project.

🛠️ What Happened?

It turns out that one of our earlier data files had empty latitude and longitude fields for a chunk of institutions. The schools were still in our database, but without geolocation data, they simply couldn’t appear on the map. After tracking down the correct coordinates, we’ve re-exported the dataset and rebuilt the maps — and we think you’ll agree, it looks a lot more complete now.

📈 What’s Next?

We’re actively working on a larger revision to the Collegiate Survivability Index — a refinement of the methodology, improved financial forecasting, and the inclusion of new visualizations for niche subgroups like CCCU schools and faith-based institutions.

That update is slated to roll out in the next month. But in the meantime, rest assured that we’ll continue to make incremental improvements, respond to feedback, and keep updating the maps as new data becomes available.

If you’re using these maps to explore higher education trends, flag troubled institutions, or just snoop around — we’re glad you’re here.

Stay curious, and stay tuned.
